Academic Interests/Expertise
I am interested in teaching and evaluation of woody landscape plants. I have produced a web-based software program called UIPLANTS that serves as a comprehensive reference for woody landscape plant identification, culture and usage. The program is co-authored by Chris Lindsey of NCSA at the U. of I., Mark Zampardo of the College of Lake County and Laura Hayden from Electrical and Computer Engineering at the U. of I. The program includes large numbers of color images accompanied by text and is available on the WWW at http://woodyplants.nres.uiuc.edu.

I am also conducting research on the pelletization of landscape leaf waste to be used as preemergence herbicide carriers and soil amendments. My interest in students has led to my serving as the primary advisor for undergraduate students specializing in the landscape industry.
