of Research
Investigate and target expression of antigenic proteins for
human and animal pathogens in plant cells and tissues for developing
plant-based vaccines and other biopharmaceuticals; global gene
expression profiling and candidate gene identification and characterization;
map, clone, and characterize disease resistance genes in various
plant species, and study expression and regulation of these genes
in transgenic plants; investigate the role of phytochelatin genes
in heavy metal uptake; investigate the role of DNA methylation
in gene expression and gene silencing
