Aquatic ecology and the use of ecological theory in solving problems in applied fisheries management. Specifically, interested in predator-prey interactions, the role of predators in controlling community structure, trophic dynamics in aquatic systems, optimal foraging, bioenergetics modeling and its use in fisheries management, and behavioral ecology of fishes. Work in a variety of aquatic systems including lakes, reservoirs, ponds, large rivers and streams. In addition, strong interest in laboratory experimental work as a way of determining underlying mechanisms of field patterns.
