Program Options Ph.D. - The Ph.D. program allows students who have already obtained a M.S. to become a recognized expert in their field.
M.S. - The M.S. degree makes students into researchers. Coursework is no longer a focus, and students learn how to create and carry out independent research.
Joint Law - The environmental law program is a unique opportunity for students studying law to not only obtain a J.D., but also a M.S. in NRES. This assures that students will have an understanding of the environmental sciences so that laws and regulations may be understood fully and applied accurately.
Course OfferingsGraduate students have the opportunity to fully customize their academic programs. They may contain courses offered by NRES, or any other department on campus.
Areas of ExpertiseThe scope of research and training in NRES is broad and interdisciplinary ranging from the physical components of the landscape (Soil and Water Sciences); to the biology of the organisms that occupy the landscape (Horticulture, Forestry, and Plant Sciences; Fish and Wildlife Conservation); to the Human Dimensions of Environmental Science; and the analytical systems that model and quantify the interactive dynamics of these components (Modeling and Quantitative Analysis). NRES is proud that 95% of our graduate students find positions in their areas of training in academia, with the government, in private industry, or with non-profit organizations within six months after completion of their degrees. | | How to ApplyIf you have previously attended graduate school at the University of Illinois, please contact us at nres.uiuc.edu for instructions on how to apply.
